Finding the Best Space for a Yoga Retreat or Wellness Event

Why the Environment Matters in Wellness

Yoga and wellness gatherings ask participants to slow down, breathe, and be present. The physical space either supports or undermines that intention.

Natural Light and Fresh Air

Look for spaces with generous natural light and the ability to open windows or doors for fresh air. Morning yoga classes especially benefit from spaces where participants can watch the light change during practice.

Floor Surface Matters

Hardwood floors are ideal for yoga — they're grippy, easy to clean, and look beautiful under natural light. Avoid carpet and stone or tile floors.

Acoustics and Quiet

Sound is deeply important in wellness settings. Test the acoustics by spending 5 minutes in silence in the space during your venue visit.

Space for Movement

Plan for at least 21 square feet per participant. For a flowing class, participants also need space on all sides of their mat.

The Energy of the Space

Walk into the space and notice how you feel. Is it calm? Welcoming? Trust your instincts — your participants will sense the same thing you do.
